Dr. Allen-Jenkins earned her BA in psychology and history from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. As an active member of the student body, she remained at Spalding for her masters and doctorate in clinical psychology. Her focus of study was children, adolescents, and families. She completed her APA-approved pre-doctoral internship at MercyFirst's Residential Treatment Center on Long Island, New York. She relocated to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to complete her post-doctoral internship at Eastern Shore Psychological Services, an out-patient mental health facility.
Dr. Allen-Jenkins initially focused on the treatment of children, adolescents and their families; however, after struggling with fertility in her own life, she felt inspired to expand her practice to helping other people with this difficult diagnosis. She then engaged in additional training and consultation on providing therapy to people struggling with fertility, miscarriage, infant loss, pregnancy, and caring for infants.
Dr. Allen-Jenkins maintains her license to practice psychology in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
